Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) 101

Audience pool: Postgraduate trainees from Master in Counseling

Objectives:

  1. To facilitate learning the fundamentals of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), such as understanding the client’s issue(s) based on CBT conceptualization.
  2. To provide an interactive platform for the participants to experience and apply skills and techniques in CBT through different activities and role-play exercises. 


Notes on CBT 101:

  1. Understanding our emotions, behaviors, and physiological reactions as a result of our thought pattern.
  2. Cognitive distortions are irrational thought patterns that influence our emotions and behaviors.
  3. Cognitive restructuring is a technique used to identify and modify irrational thought pattern.
  4. Automatic thought is a spontaneous and quick thought or image that occurs in response to an event. It is more than often a reflection of our underlying assumptions and beliefs.
  5. Thought Diary is used to monitor mood, behaviors, and thought pattern.
